Traditional Chinese Name: 補氣茶 (bǔ qì chá) – direct translation here is “replenish air tea”. The air is actually synonymous to Qi, that’s what it means when it’s used like this. This name of tea is populate in Traditional Chinese Medicine and carries the same meaning, but can be designed with a variety of different ingredients and combinations that replenish, support, and strengthen Qi.
Nature: Slightly warming (due to the red dates and dried longans).
Targets: Lungs, Spleen, Heart, Kidneys

This slightly warming tea is designed to replenish Qi, help calm the spirit, and support fatigue and overtired bodies and minds.
The reishi mushrooms and licorice roots are neutral and are power herbs to help replenish, support, and strengthen Qi, targeting multiple organs such as lungs, spleen, heart, and kidneys. The red dates and longans and slightly warming, help calm the spirit and relieve fatigue in the mind. These are great teas for overwork, stress, and jetlag to name a few use cases.
What’s involved?
For 1 x tea bag:
Prep time: 2 mins
Cook time: 5 mins steep (with boiling water)
Total time: 7 mins
Serves: 1 cup
Ingredients
- 1 dried red date (halved and pitted)
- 3 dried longans
- 2 small slices of dried licorice root
- 2 slices of dried reishi (lingzhi) mushrooms
- 1 small piece of rock sugar (optional) or
- 1 teaspoon of honey (optional)
- 1 small eco-friendly recyclable tea bag
Prep Instructions
- Add all the dried ingredients into the tea bag. I tend to stack the round items at the bottom first and then the longer mushrooms and licorice root around the edges of the teabag.
- Pull on the zip tie string to secure the ingredients in the bag.
- To drink, put the tea bag fully submerged into boiling water, cover and let that steep for 5 minutes.
- Serve and enjoy! You can optionally add a small piece of rock sugar or a dollop of honey to sweeten it further!

Add in dried red pitted dates (or dried longans) too boost warmth and healing properties in the tea! I will also add this outside of the tea mixture as well.
